SHAMOSH, YIẒḤAK
SHAMOSH, YIẒḤAK (1912–1968), Syrian author and translator. He practiced law in aleppo and damascus , edited Le Commerce du Levant, and contributed to literary periodicals in egypt and the Levant. After settling in Palestine in 1937, he taught Arabic at the Hebrew University and held high posts in Israel's Broadcasting Authority and Ministry of Justice. He was an expert on the modern Arabic short story and the literature of the Arabic diaspora in the U.S. -ADD. BIBLIOGRAPHY: J.M.
